in this society it is known that there are people who have some kind of supernatural abilities this was ghosts, werewolves, can grow ten feet, can turn themselves into rock these people are very much looked down upon by some particularly conservative people your not choosing to be these things you’re born into it and can when you try look human and act like ‘human’ all the time you’re repressing it but you can mask it also you are born this way you can’t change it in this dream I go to this very competitive kind of like uni but weirdly it’s on sewing and make up anyway there’s this guy (he’s very camp and flamboyant) called Matt initially we’re friends and we get On very well then when it’s the sewing bit he usually wins and I’m usually second then he always just beats me in it and he’s kind of an asshole about it and he’s very competitive anyway I end up not liking him then when we get to the makeup bit I end up coming first and he’s annoyed about it at first and I’m very happy to beat him lol and he actually comes up to me and says that was really good what you did and he says congratulations then I think that’s nice and he’s really nice over the weeks then I go up to him and says no drama I actually like you and feel like we could be mates then we go out and we spend more time together he ends up telling me he’s one of the people with a like different thing like one of the paranormal esk things and then I say oh that’s interesting then I say I always felt really connected to those people and he asks why and I speak about hiding parts of myself for example how I used to genuinly find it painful and he says it’s similar to him growing up his parents actually knew but were really against it so he was made to repress it and it was physically painful they thought he had anger issues but was just hiding parts of himself and we went out again and this time met some of his friends who are of these kind and then I felt super connected to them and then because I’m not hiding I end up becoming like my skin changes I’m physically super strong taller etc clearly one of these people and I was all along and then you can still see other people as you can turn it off but other people thought these people were like dangerous and almost uncivilised but it was way more fun and accepting and then my family was okay with it they didn’t love it but accepted it but matts family wouldn’t see him he was only able to see his younger sister like a few times a year when his parents didn’t know and was only allowed to see his sister whose a teenager once a year with his parents on her birthday anyway im there for some reason its clear his sister is also like us and he’s begging her to join but she can’t and I tell him he needs to accept that but eventually near the end of the dream his sister accepts it Btw in the dream I’m the same age I am now which is 21 but in the community it was all different ages Matt was also similar age to me Btw my best friend Sophie was in this dream as well she didn’t have supernatural abilities but we stayed best friends and she didn’t think it was a bad thing Also in this society it’s not illegal and not everyone is predjudice but some are
Your dream presents a vivid tapestry of themes ranging from self-discovery and acceptance to societal perception and prejudice. Here's an interpretation of its major elements:
The Supernatural Society: The supernatural abilities in the dream symbolize unique traits, identities, or characteristics that are often misunderstood or judged by societal norms. Just as individuals in contemporary society might hide parts of themselves due to fear of judgment, the 'paranormal' community in your dream reflects the pressure to conform.
University for Sewing and Makeup: This unusual educational setting represents the blend of creativity and competitiveness. Your success in makeup signifies personal strength and validation, turning the tables in the dynamic with Matt. It suggests that while others may excel in some areas, your strengths lie in others, waiting for the right context to shine.
Relationship with Matt: Initially competitive and strained, your relationship with Matt evolves into one of mutual respect and deeper understanding. This reflects personal growth and the breaking down of initial barriers to understand the underlying humanity in others. Matt revealing his paranormal nature indicates vulnerability and trust, ushering in a meaningful connection.
Self-Discovery and Transformation: Your transformation into someone with supernatural traits marks an awakening and acceptance of previously hidden aspects of your identity. This indicates a journey towards self-acceptance, embracing who you are without fear of societal judgment. The physical change is symbolic of internal acceptance and empowerment.
Family Dynamics: Matt’s strained relationship with his family reflects real-world struggles of acceptance within family units when individuals deviate from expected norms. In contrast, your family's acceptance, albeit hesitant, indicates hope for understanding and love. This balance shows both the struggle and potential for eventual acceptance.
Best Friend Sophie: Despite her lack of supernatural abilities, Sophie’s unchanged friendship signifies unconditional support and love. It represents the people in our lives who accept us regardless of any differences and underline the importance of solid, supportive relationships.
Matt’s Sister’s Conflict: His sister’s hesitancy to embrace her identity may indicate fears of breaking away from perceived norms. Her eventual acceptance might mirror the internal debates and the courage needed to embrace one’s true self, especially when familial relationships and societal perceptions are at stake.
Society’s Mixed Views: The societal divide between acceptance and prejudice in your dream mirrors real societal issues of inclusion and diversity. It reflects the ongoing struggle many face in not only finding self-acceptance but also broader societal acceptance.
In essence, your dream is a compelling narrative on the journey to self-discovery, the courage to embrace one's true self, and the dynamics of relationships underpinned by understanding, vulnerability, and acceptance. It encourages acceptance not only from others but also of oneself, emphasizing personal growth, empowerment, and the transformative power of authentic relationships.
